HISTORY
DAVID “Dick” R. GOODMAN, JR. began
working at Madison Chemical in 1975 and became President in 1984 when his father,
David “Beano” R. Goodman, an MIT graduate, retired. Dick holds a B.S.
degree in Chemical Engineering. Over the years, he worked in Production, Maintenance,
the Lab and was Operations manager. He has also spent time in Sales and Purchasing.
Dick's degree and experience allow him to remain involved with R&D, buying strategies,
and customer service.
There has been a great deal of progress in the
fifty-plus years since Mr. Goodman Sr., who in 1947 started his company in a
one-car garage. In 1959, the company moved to its present location and William
H. Stone, a fellow MIT graduate and friend, degreed in Chemical Engineering,
joined the firm as partner (retired in 1976).
Today, Madison Chemical
encompasses approximately 40,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing, lab and
office space. Our diverse line of chemical products evolved from Mr. Goodman's
original product line, and today contains more than 1,500 formulae. Our products
fall into essentially six major groups: Metal and Composite
Fabricators, Paper Mill, Transportation, Industrial Maintenance, Food
Industry, and Wastewater Treatment.
Recognized for our commitment to quality, safety
and the environment, we have earned numerous awards and acknowledgements. In
1994, we established a quality management system (ISO 9001) and in 2001, we established an environmental management
system (ISO 14001). Both are registered and are continually improved
through ongoing audits and preventive & corrective action reports.
