Products For The Hot - Dip Galvanizing Industry
The Hot-Dip Galvanized industry is important for providing a process to coat and protect steel and iron against the effects of exposure. ALKALINE SOAK CLEANER
COMPOUND HT-50 (Omaha) (MSDS) is the product of choice for alkaline soak cleaning prior to acid pickling. It promotes faster removal of scale in the acid pickle due to its unique formulation. The benefits of using COMPOUND HT-50 (Omaha) are:
- Increases production rates
- Decreases time in acid pickle which decreases acid consumption
- Use at 4 – 8 ounce/gallon at 140˚F to 180˚F
FOAM BLANKET FOR ACID PICKLING
COMPOUND FB-98 (MSDS) is a liquid blend of acid stable surfactants that produce a foam blanket to suppress fumes from muriatic or sulfuric pickling acids. Using COMPOUND FB-98 will:
- Promotes uniform removal of surface oxides
- Contributes to cleaner parts and less acid drag-out
- Use one gallon for every 1,000 gallons of raw acid
ACID INHIBITORS
Inhibit the action of the acid on sound ferrous metal surfaces. The benefits of these products are:
- Reduces acid consumption
- Retards hydrogen embrittlement
- Prevents over-pickling and subsequent pitting
- Restricts iron salt buildup
INHIBITOR HCL (MSDS) is for use with hydrochloric (muriatic acid). It results in less attack on metal surfaces by a factor of up to 85. Use 2.5 – 5.0 gallons for every 1,000 gallons of hydrochloric acid. INHIBITOR R (MSDS) is for use with sulfuric acid. Use 5 – 10 gallons for every 1,000 gallons of sulfuric acid.
FLUX TANK ADDITIVE
FLUXWET 37 (MSDS) offers a great improvement in galvanizing quality when added to the flux tanks prior to hot-dip galvanizing.
- Reduces surface tension and subsequent drag-out
- Results in smoother, more uniform coating of zinc
- Improves deposition of flux in hard-to-reach places
Use one-half pint to one quart per day for every 10,000 gallons of flux solution. While the amount of FLUXWET 37 present cannot be tested tank-side, the proper amount is easily determined by putting air on the tank. If foam covers one-half of the surface area, sufficient FLUXWET 37 is present.
